Staying at home be a full-time mama is always a wonderful idea to me. However, I didn't do so until after my eldest kid Adriel was 7 years old.

I won't say that I miss out much of the opportunities to see both Adriel and Jeriel grow from baby, toddler, preschooler to first grader, but staying at home indeed enhances the bonding between me and the boys.

Benefits Of Staying At Home

For those able to stay at home, the rewards are many. For one, you'll be able to see your kids grow, and be there to guide them whenever they need you. And you are sure that the kids are being raised in a healthy and positive environment.

In Malaysia, many of our kids are literally being brought up by foreign maids. While I've no objection to those parents who hire maids to help out the house chores, I do think that the value our kids learn from the maids is alarming.

This is especially true for kids with both working parents. If their mamas can stay home and constantly observe and guide the kids, I would think the influences from the maid will be much less.

As for my own case, Adriel and Jeriel were always the princes or at times kings in the house whenever dear hubby and I were at work. Their grandparents had difficulties to control their behavior.

Why? Because grandparents (or maids) lack the authority that the parents have. And kids know this very well...who they can bully and who they can't! A stay-at-home mom can definitely make less fuss at home.

Besides, staying at home will always ensure that we are not missing our kids' growing-up years.

Is there any cons in staying at home?

Sometimes, some mamas do feel that they are out of touch with the outside world while staying home. They feel little for not contributing to the company that they worked for, and not bringing home income. The decision made to stay at home continues to be a difficult inner struggle.

And the number one con for staying at home for sure is...double income becomes single income! Is money important in this sense? Of course it is. Two working parents would definitely bring in more income. And if we work, we mamas would have our own spending money!

While this is true, the staying home mama can look for alternative way to work...at home, rather than 15km away from home!

Well, instead of just staying at home, why not Work At Home ? For me, I'm proud to say that I'm now a work-at-home mom!
