Our Co-Sleeping Reasons
Why we all share the Big Bed
Lack of rooms...nope! No extra beds...nope! So...why??
First of all, it's Peace of Mind
We simply can't leave the kids alone in another room out of our sights throughout the night.
Not to say we are afraid of intruder or stuff like that, but...yea...we do afraid of kidnappers!
Well, kind of weird and silly, anyway, just in case...at least we are there to protect them.
Psychologically, we feel that the kids are well guarded under our supervision.
Breastfeeding Could Never Be Easier
Since I breastfed both Adriel and Jeriel, sleeping together was the most convenient and matter-of-fact way to be.
Imagine having to check on the baby monitor for his cry, then go to the baby's room to feed him,
lull him back to sleep, then go back to your own room to continue your sweet dream (if your mind is that
obedient to your ever-exhausted body), or tossing around until the next feed...
Initially I pickup up the baby, nursed him sitting on the bed. Later, I learned the art of breastfeeding
lying on the bed. Hey, how I wished I learned that earlier! Not only could I rest myself, the baby would
also feed longer and fall right back to sleep after feeding.
Sleeping together had allowed me to breastfeed the baby more effectively.
The Kids Feels More Secure
It's late at night, and it's raining heavily, the thunder is roaring loudly and the wind is howling fiercely...
Instead of worrying for the kids sleeping in the other room, wondering how they are, all I need to do is to
snuggle even more tightly with them.
There was one similar thunderstorm night, Jeriel was asleep. Subconsciously he held my hand and
wouldn't let go. When I tried to move or adjust my hand, he grabbed it even tighter. Yes, he knew mama
was there to protect him. He felt secured.
Adriel once said, "Mommy, I likes to sleep when it's raining and hear the thunder snoring..." Yep, it's
nice to sleep when you hear rain drops keep falling on your 'roof'! But not so when Adriel needs to sleep alone in another room!
The kids feel safe with papa and mama around, and we feel the same, too. All of us sleep even better
with everybody cuddle up with each other. Moment like the stormy night makes me feel that my children
need me, no matter under what circumstances.
Everybody Just Likes Cuddling
We simply like to cuddle together and feel the warm bodies of each other. Adriel and Jeriel love it very
much when we turn on the music, lie on the bed and sing together or talk to each other.
As for papa and mama, we are both busy working parents and the night time cuddling on the family
bed is just what we need after a long day work. Spending quality time like this has surely created a
stronger bond between us and the kids.
We all love the big room and the big bed...the room and bed that belong to all of us! Why separate anyway?
