Benefits Of Breastfeeding

After having baby, traveling is the least activity most mamas want to do. However, once you have mastered breastfeeding, traveling or going places with your baby is indeed very simple and convenient.

First of all, you have nothing to prepare in terms of baby food. If your baby is below 6 months old, you need to bring no food for him throughout the whole journey.

What you need is only...literally...your breasts!

You do not need to carry around a big carrier containing baby bottles, infant formula, thermo flask containing hot water, etc. There's no need to worry about hygiene, too.

Traveling With Baby Is Fun...without worrying his food

I used to travel quite a bit locally before Jeriel was born. My friends with young babies always amazed at how I could travel with ease and enjoy myself with young Adriel around.

And wherever I went, surely the baby was with me. I always wanted to make a point not to leave my baby alone as much as I could.

The best part was in the morning before we got up from bed. All I needed to do was to breastfeed Adriel lying on bed while he was half asleep. By the time he finished feeding himself, it was time to get up.

What to do next? Dear hubby and myself would straight head for breakfast (together with Adriel, of course). And no worries on baby food!

Traveling With Baby...Light And Easy

As far as my friends are concerned, traveling with baby is like moving to a new house. Not only you need to pack the baby clothing, but also the milk bottles, the sterilizer, or pot for boiling milk bottles, the cleaning stuff, the infant formula, the thermo flask, etc. It's really quite a chore!

Well, I would just tell them, "I just need to pack the baby clothing and off I go!"

For those who were not aware that I breastfed my baby, would ask naively, "Your baby eats what you eat?" or "isn't it a bit rush to get the bottle and milk powder when you reach the destination?" or "what about during the journey? Your baby needs to eat regularly."...

My reply..."I produce food for my baby. Don't worry. He'll not stave! And thanks for your concern." They stunned!

The Baby Is Enjoying Himself, Too!

As for the baby, nothing was more enjoyable than having to suckle on the breast whenever he wanted and wherever he deemed fit.

Adriel was a little happy fellow every time we took him out, especially long journey drive! He would just tuck in with me when he was hungry or when he needed comfort. He seemed so pampered and contended.

Same as Adriel, Jeriel also enjoyed traveling as a baby. As long as we are together, everybody is truly enjoying our traveling, wherever and whenever we go.

Breastfeeding Away From Home & In Public

There's nothing as easy as it seems when we really do it. This is, of course, including breastfeeding away from home. Although it's much more convenient than bottle-feeding, it still needs some preparation and careful planning.

Very often than not, breastfeeding away from home means we have to breastfeed in public.

In order to breastfeed your baby in public without others realizing, wear nursing clothes and nursing bras specially designed for breastfeeding. Or have a cloth or scarf slightly cover the baby's head while breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding in public is legal and is gradually being accepted by our societies.

However, if you are uncomfortable breastfeeding in public, go places where you can find good locations to breastfeed in privacy and comfort. Many shopping malls have quiet and comfortable nursing rooms for mamas to breastfeed. If you can't find one, another good place is in the car.

All in all, traveling and breastfeeding in public should not be a factor to hinder you and your baby from spending quality time enjoying places together.

Go all out, mamas, take your baby with you and travel around together...wherever, whenever!
